Mission of the Committee
Formed in early 2018, the LWVSC Centennial/History Committee led our commemoration of the important 100th anniversaries of women obtaining the vote in the United States, including:
- The 19th Amendment passing the U.S. House and Senate in May and June, 1919
- The founding of the League of Women Voters in February, 1920
- The ratification of the 19th Amendment on August 18, 1920
Goals:
- Preserve and present information on the struggle to secure women's voting rights
- Highlight the historic contributions of women working toward this goal in our state and local area
- Preserve the history of our League's achievements
