On January 1, 2022, two laws affecting voting, passed in 2021, went into effect.
Washington's
Future Voter program has expanded to allow a new voter who turns 18 between the August primary election and the November general election to vote in the primary.
The passage of HB1078
restores voter eligibility to all convicted felons who are not serving a sentence of total confinement. Their right to vote is restored automatically and they can re-register to vote. This applies whether the felony conviction was in Washington State, another state, or in federal court.
Our
Register to Vote webpage has been updated to show these changes.
