Sometimes the League can help resist threats to our democracy just by showing up at events to remind people of their power to vote, reach out to their elected officials, and be informed.
That's exactly what League volunteers in Snohomish County did at National Night Out Events in Mountlake Terrace and the city of Snohomish.
In two hours, more than 70 people stopped by the voter education table in Snohomish to pick up a copy of the Constitution or a guide to elected officials, test their election knowledge with the spin of a wheel, or talk with League volunteers.
Three of the four volunteers present had recently joined the League, including Leah Naccarato, who signed up in July.
"I joined the League to empower other voters," Naccarato said. "In an age of diminishing local journalism, the League's voter education and candidate forum work is vital! Tabling at events is a great way to connect with neighbors, encourage civic participation, and inform people about the League's awesome work."
