Addressing climate change can feel like an insurmountable challenge, but bringing the arts into the conversation can re-energize and inspire us. Mark your calendar for the upcoming debut of a concert combining live music, images, and poetry that invite reflection on our changing climate: Sunday, September 22nd from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Edmonds United Methodist Church, 828 Caspers, Edmonds. There is a suggested donation of $10-20. You can get tickets
here.
Titled “For The Birds,” the concert features a jazz quintet performing the original music of Seattle pianist and composer Nelda Swigget. The performance engages the power of artistic expression to connect audiences deeply and emotionally to the scientific realities of climate change. Ultimately a story of hope, the goal is for people to leave feeling empowered to take meaningful action.
Why “For The Birds”? Birds are an inspiring connection to the natural world, but climate change is having a significant and alarming impact on many species. This should be a wake up call to all of us, and if we work together we can make a difference.
