It’s happening again!
For the third year in a row, LWVSC has joined in partnership with Evergreen Goodwill (the organization that manages Goodwill operations in this 5-county area), and Common Power (from its nonpartisan division), to offer a 4-day voter registration event in Goodwill stores leading up to National Voter Registration Day on September 17.
There are so many reasons to be present and participate in this event – let’s tick off some of them:
- “Come for the work, stay for the people” is a mantra that Common Power uses. We have folks from all walks of life volunteering for this effort, and you get to hear their stories. You already share an enthusiasm for welcoming people into the Big Tent of Democracy with the other volunteers, so it’s a great way to spend a few hours with like-minded people.
- You know that you’re doing something good in the community. Just being there is a public reminder that this is an important election year, and that every voice needs to be heard.
- You will learn more about the electoral process, you will share information that people are seeking, and this learning and sharing will increase voter participation. That’s a fact. Wouldn’t you like to see higher turnouts in our elections? This is how we do that!
